In hardware packing, one of the most common questions is whether to use counting or weighing.
At first glance, weighing may seem simpler. It requires less structure and is often easier to implement. However, the result depends heavily on the consistency of each item.
For products with stable weight, weighing can be efficient. But for items like screws or small metal parts, even slight variations can accumulate and affect the final quantity.
Counting, on the other hand, focuses on quantity control. It is more suitable when each bag must contain an exact number of pieces.
That said, counting is not always the better option. It usually requires a more complex feeding and separation process, especially when dealing with mixed products.
In practice, the choice often depends on how strict the quantity requirement is.
If the tolerance is acceptable, weighing may be enough.
If accuracy per piece matters, counting becomes necessary.
In some cases, a combination of both methods is also used.
